Reaching out to start therapy can be nerve-wracking and takes courage, especially when you have been taught and identify with a warrior ethos. But making this single decision to share your innermost difficulties with someone could change the rest of your life. My goal is to help Service Members, Veterans, and their families find new ways to face the challenges in their life and get “unstuck”. Whether it is dealing with the impact of traumatic combat or sexual experiences, figuring out how to fit into the civilian world and relationships, or tackling anxiety, depression, or loneliness, my goal is to help you restore your freedom.
My approach is grounded in decades of research showing the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavior Therapies (CBT) for a range of problems and diverse individuals, including trauma-focused treatments (Prolonged Exposure and Cognitive Processing Therapy) as well as treatments for anxiety and depression (Exposure Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). I have specialized training and experience in working with Veterans, Service Members, and their families who have experienced combat and military sexual trauma, depression, anxiety, and/or grief as well as those coping with chronic physical health issues. Additionally, I currently serve in the Army National Guard as a Behavioral Health Officer.
Each time we meet, we’ll make sure we are focusing on what’s most important to you and that my approach is working for you. If it isn’t, we’ll talk about it right away and adjust. If we work together, and I hope we can, we will take collaborative action to move you toward your goals with purpose. It would be an honor to work with you.
